I asked the Danish Senior Dressage Judge Helle Westh to write a short bio:
My name is Helle and I am 61 years old, married to Michael, who just celebrated his 40 year anniversary working in forestry. As a child and a young woman, I was a showjumper, but later caught by the dressage bug. In 1988, I started my education as a dressage judge and quickly ascended the levels of the judging.
For several years now, I have held the position of senior dressage judge, which is the highest national judging designation. I have judged numerous national dressage in Denmark as well as in Sweden.
As a senior judge, I also function as an assessor and examiner for younger judges, and proudly take on the role of being a mentor to newly minted judges.
Besides being a judge, I am also an avid dressage rider and have trained several horses to S level. My current mount is the beautiful black mare Wonder’s Fairy Tale, who is a Danish Warmblood by Florist/His Highness.
Four times, I achieved becoming the regional dressage champion, with the latest honor on the lovely black mare. This season, we have started showing at Prix St. George and Intermediate I (final level before Grand Prix) with very promising results. My dream is to go all the way to Grand Prix.
